Territory Trends

With a close of 2011 we all get to review the books. Del Sol had a great year thanks to our customer’s fantastic business levels. 2011 was Del Sol’s biggest sales year ever. Thank you all very much.

So what is changing? Business is good. Our customers seem happy with their level of work. New equipment is being ordered on a regular basis. Plants are expanding. Right now, life looks pretty good.

---Lee White – President – Del Sol Industrial Services, Inc.

What’s New???

Tim Falleri is new. We are very pleased to announce the hire of Tim Falleri to cover sales in our Northern Territory. Tim will be helping us to cover OK, AR, MO, KS, IL, NE, IA. Lots of miles but this is a known territory to him.

Tim has a background as a casting rep and foundry sales manager so he has been around castings and their associated issues for many years. He brings to the table a high level of energy and is very excited to be on the road selling for Del Sol.

I trust that you all will work him very hard, give him a hard time as necessary, and that you will also learn to put the same trust in him that you have afforded Del Sol over the years. He will be hitting the road and visiting soon.

Thanks for helping us grow our business enough to grow our sales force.

Territory Trends

Wow. I don’t know about you, but we are busy. It seems that every phone call stacks up 2-3 more voicemails, emails are flying in, and orders are abundant. Our customers are busy and seem to be increasingly busier. On an exciting note, there is a lot of equipment selling. Why? To increase capacity, reduce labor, and top improve quality.

We are seeing a strong sales area of automation in finishing taking place.

Thank you all so much for your business.

ROBO –GRINDER – Taking a spin from our initial offering of the ROBO MOLDER, Del Sol is in production on its first robotic grinding cell. While we still love selling the Roberts Sinto Barinder (featured later in this newsletter), for certain materials like steel and plastics, the Barinder is not quite the right fit yet based on available wheels. So, we use the ROBO Grinder in these cases.

New Top Cap Method for Induction Furnaces

Del Sol has recently been seeing a lot of success with a new top cap material that was developed by Capital Refractories. The new material is a dry top that is composed of furnace lining materials coupled with low temperature binders. This material is extremely strong (unlike others on the market) and VIRTUALLY ELIMINATES THE JOINT BETWEEN THE CAP AND THE BODY OF THE LINING.

If you are tired of constantly repairing or even replacing the cap, let us know.

The material is called Capital Coral BDT. We can show you how to properly install the spout and this cap material in a single showing and you can reduce your furnace maintenance right away.

As we look around at the wild world, it is certainly interesting. Fires, floods, earthquakes, and money being made. We are still seeing improved output from our customers. Within our territory, event he customers that had not quite picked up yet early this summer are seeing longer backlogs and very good bookings.

I hope and trust that your business is strong. If it is not, let us know as we may have customers looking to outsource. We actually have several customers now running at full capacity.

If you are having trouble bringing good labor to the table, we sell some of the best automation tools in the business to cut labor. From automatic molding, to robotic grinding, to fully automatic core blowers, we have you covered.

---Lee White – President – Del Sol Industrial Services, Inc.

What’s New???

Well, maybe not new, but we wanted to let you know that we actively stock these very boring, but ever so useful, foundry products…

  • Silver Core Daub (the MA Bell version that was around for so many years
  • Quick Dry Core Paste – our core paste goes farther simply because it comes out of the bottle better!! You actually get to use all 3 pound in the bottle.
  • Ceramic Blanket – we stock both 1” and 2” 2300 F blanket
  • Slag Coagulant – both standard “kitty litter” and a refined version especially for iron that causes a greater chilling effect that caused grey and ductile to stick to the slag coagulant better.

We do have many other nice boring products in stock to aide in your production. Curious if we stock something or you would like us to stock something, just let us know.

For you induction melters out there…

Are you tired of trying to keep a plastic top cap on your furnace? Tired of patching it and it still falling off?

With the help of Capital Refractories, we have a new product offering called Coral BDT. This is an alumina based dry top cap that sets up with sintering and melting heat rather than phos bonding.

This product expands at the same rate as the furnace lining thus eliminating the heavy growth associated with common cap plastics.

If you would like to try Coral BDT, let us know and we will be happy to schedule a trial with you.

Thank you for giving us a few minutes of your busy day. If we can be of any service to you whatsoever, please don’t hesitate to call 830-935-4430 or email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

Overall, our markets are still looking very strong despite Washington’s best efforts to derail the economy. I think it is safe to say that most business owners are doing their best to ignore the talking heads.

We are also seeing a boost in automation and employee reduction. We have recently sold our first robotic finishing cell for STEEL CASTINGS based on ABB Robotic Technology and are working on several orders for our RoboMolder Patternless Mold Making Robotic Cell.

If you need to enter the world of rapid prototyping, labor reduction, or simply need to upgrade your foundry automation, let us know.

Palmer Matchplate Molding Machines

Palmer Manufacturing has recently completed initial design and testing on several different size and output matchplate molding machines. What is it? Basically, a technique for simply converting greensand matchplates to no bake molding operations without having to go to a cope / drag configuration. These unique machines run from 30-60 molds / hour and feature automatic closers to reduce labor.
